Someone called me Dumbledore today. I didn't know whether to be cross or flattered. Thought I'd better check it out, before calling my lawyer.

Dumbledore, you will remember was the Headmaster of Harry's school. He was a mentor, guardian, protector to Harry. Overall a pretty good character though he did have the misfortune to get killed towards the end.

He once said this: "It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends." Yes, I can identify with that one right now.

What else did he say? "We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy". Yes, I can identify with that right now.

Anything else? "Humans have the knack of choosing precisely the things that are worst for them". You can say that again. (Humans have the knack... don't be silly now, you've made your point)

"Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" This is as good as a meditation.

"It is important to fight and fight, and keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated."

I'll end on this one which really does hit the spot. "Well it's just that you seem to be labouring under the delusion that I am going to, what is the phrase, come quietly. I am afraid I am not going to come quietly at all."

Perhaps I ought to read the books after all. Thankyou Jo, few epiphanies there, few lights getting switched on.
